How to Tune Your Cello
- Put your phone on the music stand or a chair, about a foot from the f-holes.
- Tune the A string first, then D, G, and C. Use a long, steady bow stroke.
- Use the fine tuner(s) on the tailpiece, if your cello has them, for small changes and the pegs only when a string is far off.
The low C string can take a moment longer to read, because phone microphones pick up low notes poorly.
