Questions

What are the notes of the viola strings?+

From lowest to highest: C3, G3, D4, and A4. The viola shares the violin's G, D, and A strings and has a low C instead of the violin's high E.

Can I use a violin tuner for a viola?+

A chromatic tuner works for any instrument, but a violin tuner's string buttons don't include the viola's C string. Use this page or the chromatic tuner.

Should I use A4 = 440 Hz?+

Yes, unless you play with a group or a recording that uses a different reference. Some orchestras tune to 442 Hz, and Baroque ensembles often use 415 Hz. Change it under Settings. The choice is saved on your device.

Is my audio recorded?+

No. The sound is analyzed in your browser, on your device. Nothing is saved or uploaded.
