Questions

What are the notes of the violin strings?+

From lowest to highest: G3, D4, A4, and E5. Each string is a fifth above the one below it.

Why tune the A string first?+

Orchestras tune to A, and the other strings are checked against it when you tune by ear in fifths.

Should I use the pegs or the fine tuners?+

Use the fine tuners for small changes of a few cents. Use the pegs when a string is further out, pushing the peg in as you turn so it holds. Many violins have a fine tuner on the E string only.

Should I use A4 = 440 Hz?+

Yes, unless you play with a group or a recording that uses a different reference. Some orchestras tune to 442 Hz, and Baroque ensembles often use 415 Hz. Change it under Settings. The choice is saved on your device.

Is my audio recorded?+

No. The sound is analyzed in your browser, on your device. Nothing is saved or uploaded.
