How to Tune to DADGAD
- Start from standard tuning. The A, D, and G strings stay where they are.
- Lower the low E string a whole step, to D2.
- Lower the B string a whole step, to A3.
- Lower the high E string a whole step, to D4.
- Tap a string's button to lock the tuner to it while you tune, then check all six again.
Tune up to each note rather than down to it. If you go past, loosen the string below the note and come back up: the string holds its pitch better that way.
