How to Tune a Half Step Down
- Tap Start Tuning and pluck the low string. Loosen it until the tuner shows E♭2 in tune.
- Do the same for the other strings: A♭2, D♭3, G♭3, B♭3, and E♭4. Each is 100 cents below standard.
- Check every string again at the end. Loosening all six changes the pull on the neck, which can move the first strings slightly.
Tune up to each note rather than down to it. If you go past, loosen the string below the note and come back up: the string holds its pitch better that way.
